LIP BLUSH

FAQ

  • It is a safe and non-invasive semi-permanent cosmetic tattoo that uses color to create the effect of full and defined lips that look natural.

  • No. It does not replace your lipstick, but gives your lips a natural, blushy tint once healed.

  • Minimal pain! Topical numbing will be applied as needed. However, every client metabolizes the numbing agent differently and we will accommodate as best as we can to your comfort level.

  • -Restores color to pale or aging lips

-Color corrects scars and uneven pigmentation

    -Enhance lip symmetry

-Saves your time and money as it lasts up to 2-3 years

  • With proper care and touch ups, lip blush can last between 2-3 years. HOWEVER, since everyone has different body chemistry and lifestyle we can't guarantee the duration of results.

  • A wide range of tones in the pink, coral, and red families are available to create a customized shade and will be determined by your artist

  • Your lips will appear swollen and slightly larger than normal and look as though you may have had a slight lip filler injection and this VARIES from person to person and is absolutely NORMAL. The pigment and lip color will look darker initially, like a bold lipstick. The size of your lips will shrink back to normal as any swelling subsides and the color will significantly fade (40-50%) within the first 5 days. Right after the procedure lips normally feel dry, chapped, tight and tender to the touch - similar to how a sunburn feels. Remember to moisturize and hydrate!

  • These pigments will heal to 40-50% lighter once settled and healed. We will discuss which colors will best suit you based on your natural lip color and the look you wish to achieve for your desirable outcome. Once your lips have healed (5-10 days), you can still enhance or change the color of your lips at any time with conventional makeup. Your new lip tattoo is designed to act as a base!

  • A lip tattoo session takes 2.5-3 hours

  • We require you to wait 4 weeks post lip injection/filler before your lip blush tattoo appointment and 4 weeks before your lip blush tattoo to proceed with any additional lip injections or fillers.

  • We do NOT perform any cosmetic tattooing on anyone who is pregnant or nursing as a precaution.

  • -Skin sensitivities and allergies are always taken into consideration on an individual assessment. The majority of clients with skin sensitivities or allergies are minor and eligible for tattooing, only resulting in a mild redness of the skin that subsides within an hour or two post-treatment.

-Allergies to cosmetics, latex or numbing agents (such as Lidocaine, Tetracaine) should always be disclosed with us prior to your appointment.

-Lip Blushing does not give you cold sores (if you do not have the virus) but any treatments to lips can excite the dormant virus increasing the risk of an outbreak in individuals who have had cold sores in the past. We recommend that all clients with a history of cold sores take a preventative oral medication for two days prior to appointment (or as advised by your physician) to avoid a breakout. If you have an active cold sore, we will reschedule your appointment.

  • Do NOT drink alcohol 48 hours before the procedure

  • Do NOT workout on the day of the procedure

  • If you have been on prescription Accutane in the past, you MUST wait at least 1 year before considering this procedure

LIP SCRUB LIP TREATMENT

You will want to start a lip scrub once a day for 3 days before your procedure so that your lips are prepped and don't have a rough texture, which will prevent proper pigment saturation and a poor healed result. Use the morning of your appointment. Do not over scrub to the point that you have raw or compromised skin.  You may buy a lip scrub from any local drug store or make a sugar lip scrub at home (google sugar lip scrub) in order to exfoliate off dead layers of skin.

  • Mix 1 TBSP of coconut oil and 1 TBSP or organic honey.  Then add 2 TBSP brown sugar and ½ TBSP of lukewarm water.  Apply the scrub to lips in a circular motion for 2-3 minutes.  Rinse with warm water and moisturize until the day of appointment to maintain a smooth texture.

POST CARE

  • Increased sweating

    Practicing sports

    Swimming

Hot sauna, hot bath, or Jacuzzi

    Sun tanning or salon tanning

Exposure to UV/UVA Rays or chemicals as they have been known to cause a shift in color and premature fading

Any laser or chemical treatments or peelings, and/or any creams containing Retin-A or Glycolic acid on the treatment area

Touching of the treatment area except for when applying the post-care ointment with a cotton swab

Picking, peeling, or scratching of the treatment area in order to avoid scarring of the area or removal of the pigment

Performing tasks related to heavy household cleaning such as garage or basement cleaning where there is a lot of airborne debris

Drinking alcohol in excess, as it may lead to slow healing of wounds

Driving in open air vehicles such as convertibles, boats, bicycles, or motorcycle

  • DAY 1: Immediately following the procedure your lips will feel dry, chapped, tight and tender to the touch. For some, they may appear swollen and bright in color. You may use a cold compress to help with the swelling. For 4 hours after treatment, apply light pressure on lips with a clean paper towel, to remove any lymph. After 4 hours, start applying ointment (Aquaphor) as needed to keep lips constantly moist (VERY IMPORTANT). No kissing, rubbing or friction on the treatment area. Avoid touching your tattooed lips and always wash your hands or use a Q-tip prior to applying Aquaphor.

DAY 2-3: Apply Aquaphor on lips several times a day (q 30-60 minutes). Lips must be moist at all times to keep them from drying out. Avoid LIP BALMS, LIPSTICKS, or other lip products during this first week! Avoid oily, spicy and heavily seasoned food and drink with a straw for 48 hrs. After every meal gently rinse and clean lips with water and pat dry, then re-apply ointment.

DAY 3-4: When scabbing starts to appear, do not wipe or pick at them!

DAY 4-7: Between these days, lips will begin and end the process of peeling, and color will lighten by 40-50%.

Do not pick or rub your lips and let the peeling happen naturally. Continue keeping your lips moist!

WEEK 2: Lips are done peeling, color is light. You may return to normal routines. Lips will continue to heal, up to 6 weeks. Every week more color will surface, it is important to continue keeping lips moist to get the best color at the end of the healing phase. Use sunblock to protect from sun fading!

WEEK 6-8: It is recommended that you come back for a touch up to complete your lip transformation! Others may require more than 2 sessions before we see you in a couple more years!

If you have any unexpected problems with the healing of the skin, please contact BR BROWS + BEAUTY to discuss further instructions.

***Contact a physician if any signs or symptoms develop such as the following: fever, redness at the site, swelling, tenderness of the procedure site, elevated body temperature, red streaks going from the procedure site towards the heart, and/or any green/yellow discharge that is foul in odor.
