POWDER BROWS

FAQ

  • Powder brows (also referred to as “ombre” or “microshading”) use a traditional tattoo machine and very fine needles to create shape and add shading to your brows. They’re called “ombre” because they start light and then get darker at the edges so they look more natural. Powder Brows are meant to heal soft and airy.

  • Pain is none to minimal and is dependent on the client’s tolerance. Secondary numbing will be applied as needed for comfort.

  • No. Permanent makeup in general is not meant to replace makeup or look like a tattoo. It is meant to heal soft and natural like a real brow.

  • With proper care and touch ups, brows can last 2-3 years. HOWEVER, since everyone has different body chemistry and lifestyle we can't guarantee the duration of results.

  • When clients come in for their initial visit, a 8week initial touch up is required at an additional fee, to finalize your brows. Clients then come back for a yearly (additional touch up) every 24/36/72 months depending on how well their skin can maintain and hold the pigment. These appointments are temporary and we will review your brows 1-2 months before your scheduled date to see if you are due. If the tattoo is not kept up with or maintained clients will have to start over again to rebuild the outline and base of their brows

  • Each color is based off of your natural undertones and the hair color of your natural brows.

  • The brows look amazing! The skin may be slightly red due to skin sensitivity, but the brows will look soft initially after the procedure. After an hour or so the brows will begin to darken about 30-50%. Once brows are done healing they will shrink and lighten 20-30%.

  • The appointment is a 3 hour appointment. The artist consult, and pre draw by measuring the brows before the session begins.

  • We do NOT perform any cosmetic tattooing on anyone who is pregnant or nursing as a precaution.

  • Everyone! it’s perfect for every brow and skin type, especially oily textured skin.

  • -Skin sensitivities and allergies are always taken into consideration on an individual assessment. The majority of clients with skin sensitivities or allergies are minor and eligible for tattooing, only resulting in a mild redness of the skin that subsides within an hour or two post-treatment.

-Allergies to cosmetics, latex or numbing agents (such as Lidocaine, Tetracaine) should always be disclosed with us prior to your appointment.

  • Botox and filler on the forehead, temple, and eye area should be avoided 1 month prior to procedure for those who do not regularly receive injectables.

PRE CARE

WHAT TO AVOID

4 WEEKS PRIOR TO YOUR APPOINTMENT

AVOID Chemical Peels, Microdermabrasion or facials

  • DISCONTINUE Retin-A at least 4 weeks prior (and avoid on eyebrow area after procedure)

  • BOTOX AND FILLER on the forehead, temple, and eye area should be avoided 1 month prior to procedure for those who do not regularly receive injectables.

Please Note: You will be more sensitive during your menstrual cycle.

 2 WEEKS BEFORE :

  • REFRAIN from use of any Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) products close to the eyebrow area 2 weeks prior (and avoid on eyebrow area after procedure).

 1 WEEK BEFORE :

  • AVOID sun and tanning

  • NO brow waxing, tinting, or threading (the more natural hair growth you have, the better!

 48 HOURS PRIOR:

  • NO alcohol or caffeine (Yes, there is caffeine in decaf coffee and tea)

  • DO NOT TAKE Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E or Advil/Ibuprofen

  • AVOID Fish Oil, Prenatal Vitamins, Nutritional Shakes (Shakeology, etc), “Hair, Skin, Nail” supplements.

 24 HOURS PRIOR :

  • DO NOT work out 24 hours before the procedure.

This is really to emphasize the importance of following your pre care. Pinpoint bleeding is NORMAL as seen on the left and let’s us know we are in the right depth of the skin. The bleeding on right makes it harder to properly implant pigment in, which may ultimately lead to poor healing + retention.

POST CARE

  • DAY 1-2 The Eyebrows are approximately 50% darker and bolder than they will be once they are healed. You may experience the pigment appearing orange or red, the reason why you may see a lot of red immediately after is that with the skin being open the colors are premodified to heal true to tone with no ashy undertones. They have a strong presence of warmth to ensure perfect healed results. Redness and swelling will subside

DAY 3 Eyebrows might start to itch and may appear to look much thicker in texture. Scabbing/exfoliating will begin.

DAY 4-5 The skin’s dead cells will begin to flake and your skin will start to exfoliate itself. During this process, your tattoo will soften and lighten. Be patient, even if you think too much color/strokes have been lost, your skin is still regenerating, and processing the Pigment. Some areas of the brow may appear to be completely lost, and the brows can be asymmetrical or patchy THIS IS NORMAL!

DAY 5+ Wait 3 weeks to see the true color, as it seems to take on new strength. It is only after 12 weeks (the earliest) that your touch-up/adjustment can be done. Keep in mind that microbladed brows heal up to 30% softer than the initial color. Your initial visit creates a base for your practitioner, and your Microblading is not complete until your touch up appointment. Note: Some clients require multiple sessions (ADDITIONAL FEES APPLY).

THE NEXT 30 DAYS… Please note that final results can not be guaranteed as each unique skin type will hold pigments differently and break down at different rates. The tattooed hair strokes tend to have a more crisp look once healed on dry skin compared to more blurry strokes on oily skin. We will re-evaluate how your skin has received the pigment at your initial touch-up appointment (ADDITIONAL FEE) , and make any changes necessary. Healed results will vary with each individual client, and using a pencil or powder may still be needed. Additional sessions (charged accordingly) may be required to obtain optimal results. Especially if you have had brows done previously by another practitioner which may result in a color, and tattoo correction.

  • Immediately after leaving session dab dry over the next hour or so with dry gauze that’s given to blot any lymphatic fluid from oozing and drying. Later tonight before bed you can take a paper towel and run it under luke warm water, squeeze all water out creating a damp cloth. You will gently blot it with damp paper towel. You are going to continue the damp cloth for the next 7-14 days 2x a day morning and night. Still no wetting or sweating for the full time* As your epithelial crust starts to form (which is usually around day 3-5) then you may begin the ointment sparingly through the remainder of the week. Apply a very small amount with Q tip. What To Avoid

DO NOT rub, pick or scratch the treated area. Allow scabbing + dry skin to naturally exfoliate off. Picking can cause scarring and pigment loss!

COMPLETELY AVOID direct sun exposure + tanning beds for a minimum of 4 weeks after your procedure. Direct sunlight can cause the pigment to change color while it is healing and can also cause hyperpigmentation and scarring.

Avoid pool’s, saunas, steam rooms, hot steamy showers and/or hot baths for 3 weeks.

Avoid sweating for a full 10 days. Any physical effort, gym, hot weather, any other activity that may cause sweating through or on the brows will expel pigment from the dermis producing poor results.

Avoid sleeping on your face/brows for the first 10 days.

Keep your bangs and hair pulled back from your face for the first 10 days.

NO makeup or skincare products to be used on the treated area for two weeks.

NO facials, chemical treatments and microdermabrasion for 4 weeks.

NO Botox for 4 weeks. We recommend that it’s best to wait until after your touch up heals to get Botox, as an educated injector will take your new brows into consideration when choosing where to inject.

After 10 days, once the area has healed completely, consider using sunblock when going out in the sun to stop the color from fading.

Eyebrow tinting should not be undertaken for 2 weeks after your procedure.

Avoid Retin-A, Chemical Peels and Microderms around the brow area once healed.

  • As a general rule, the patient should expect to book a maintenance appointment every 12-36 months. In the meantime clients should avoid the following:

Once healed sunscreen should be applied to prevent fading when exposed to the sun.

Do Not apply any skin care products on the eyebrow area especially ones that contain Retinol, Glycolic acid, AHA’s, and Vitamin A.

Once healed eyebrows can be cleaned up (threading/plucking)

Avoid Sunbathing or using sun beds.

Avoid skin treatments such as laser treatments, microdermabrasion or chemical peels.

Certain skin conditions and or excessively dry/oily skin types may fade faster than other skin types.

IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING YOUR PROCEDURE:

The Brows will appear to be darker & bolder in color, and more sharply defined. This will last 3-4 days. The treated area may feel a bit like a sunburn afterwards, but there should only be minimal discomfort. Swelling and Redness is Minimal with most clients, and will disappear within 24/72 hours. Once cell renewal occurs, brows will look lighter and start to develop their true color.
